Solar energy is one of the fastest-growing renewable energy technologies and is playing an increasingly important role in the global energy transformation. It helps to promote cleaner economies that protect the environment, improve people’s well-being, and ensure the sustainability of companies.

The Syunik-Development NGO, taking into account the importance of electricity independence in the Khachik settlement, within the framework of the Improvement of Income Possibilities in Rural Areas of Armenia project provided the secondary school of the settlement with a solar photovoltaic station with a capacity of 16 KV.
Due to the installation of the solar PV station, the budgetary costs of the school will be significantly reduced, allowing them to be directed to the solution of other existing issues, in particular, the purchase of necessary laboratory, sports, and technological educational equipment.
On July 25, 2023, the opening event of the installation of the solar station took place at Khachik secondary school. Archbishop Abraham Mkrtchyan, primate of the Vayots Dzor Diocese, Hovik Smbatyan, administrative head of Khachik settlement, representatives of the Vayots Dzor Province, Qajik Khachatryan, school director, employees of the Syunik-Development NGO, and teachers, students and parents were present at the event.
In his opening speech, the school director expressed his gratitude to the NGO. Archbishop Abraham Mkrtchyan referred to the education importance in his speech.
During the event, schoolchildren performed various musical performances.
