PARTICIPANTS OF THE SECOND MEETING OF THE YOUTH EMPOWERMENT PROJECT ARE THE YOUTH OF THE YEGHEGIS COMMUNITY

From January 14 to 16, the active youth of Yeghegis consolidated community united in the Siranuysh camp of the Vayots Dzor Diocese. During the second meeting of the third phase of the Youth Empowerment Project, Suren Harutyunyan, Lieutenant Colonel of the Vayots Dzor Rescue Service, and Nikolay Mkrtchyan, Rescue Service Captain equipped the youth with the knowledge and skills of quick and operative response in emergency situations.

During the Empowerment, the employees of the Ministry of Defense, who visited the young people, presented a Military Training course.

The young people had an opportunity to acquire new knowledge and skills on local self-government. The training course was implemented by Shushan Danielyan, Responsible Person for the Economic Development of the Yeghegis community and member of the Youth Consolidation NGO.

A meeting-discussion took place with Gegham Margaryan, head of the Agriculture and Nature Protection Department of Vayots Dzor region. The topic of the discussion was the Assistance provided by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Armenia.

During the three-day meeting Karen Asatryan, the director of the Yeghegnadzor Medical Center of Vayots Dzor region, and Agnesa Mheryan, the nurse armed the young people with the knowledge of first aid.

Within the framework of the Youth Empowerment Project, the young people presented community projects that will promote the development of their settlements.

Within the Syunik-Development NGO’s Improvement of Income Possibilities in Rural Areas of Armenia project, the members of the commission gave the Shatin settlement of Eghegis community a grant for the best project. The awarded project aims to promote the development of tourism in the Yeghegis community, to contribute to the economic progress of the community by placing directional arrows in about 10 historical and cultural places, and information signs in three languages.

The amount needed for the implementation of the project is 290,500 AMD, of which 160,000 AMD will be provided by Syunik-Development NGO and the other part 130,500 AMD will be provided by Yeghegis Municipality․
