From June to September 2012, Gevorg Matevosyan, one of Syunik NGO’s key staff members, dedicated his time to apply for an youth initiative grant. The project proposal entitled “Supporting the Only Volleyball Team in Taratumb Village” was approved and activities were launched in June. Indoor and outdoor volleyball courts were renovated in Taratumb so that the village team could train all year for regional competitions. Young people from the village alongside of Syunik NGO local volunteers carried out the renovation work of the volleyball courts. Within the scope of the project, proper sportswear was obtained for the team members as well. The gratitude of Taratumb’s youth goes out not only to grant providers for providing such an opportunity, but also to Gevorg whose passion as a volleyball player helped him come up with such an initiative and ensure his village’s preparedness for competition in the sport.
