DAAD, the German Academic Exchange Service which conducts summer schools every year, partnered with Syunik NGO to implement its 2010 Summer Academy for university students from all over Armenia. The academy consisted of five workshops that aimed to improve participants’ German language skills. The collaboration was initiated by Franziska Neumann-Lehmann who was working at the time as an independent German volunteer at Gitelik University in Yeghegnadzor. In 2011 the project involved students studying the German language from both Armenia and from Georgia. Syunik NGO was a cooperating partner for the initiative along with the Goethe Institute in Georgia, the Robert Bosch Foundation, and Gitelik University in Yeghegnadzor. In 2010 and 2011 training was held for local German teachers to be introduced to new educational teaching methods.
